Keune to be captain for bundaberg

Cricket: Across The Waves star Zac Keune will captain Bundaberg this weekend in the opening round of the Wide Bay Shield at Salter Oval.

The 17-year-old batting sensation will lead the way against Fraser Coast as Bundaberg tries to repeat last year's shield success.

“We had a fairly young squad last year and we managed to keep most of the members this year so that is a big plus for us,” Keune said.

“We are pretty confident going into the match on the weekend.

“We should go into the match as favourites but, you don't take anything for granted any time you represent your region, so it is a great honour.”

Across The Waves division one stalwart Rhys Grills will coach the under-19 team while Dudley Graham was named as manager.

  • Bundaberg Under-19s:

Zac Keune (Capt), Miles Donovan (W/K), Stephen Nichols, Curtis Janke, Daniel Falkner, Dean Marles, Chris Duff, Braydon Graham, Mitchell Waters, Kyle Stallan, Alistair Rathbone, Michael Lovett / Michael Stephens
