OPINION: Keith Pitt grant claim is untrue

I HAVE just read the most recent newsletter from Member for Hinkler Keith Pitt and wish to make two comments.

First, Mr Pitt claims he was responsible for the $47.1 million federal grant for the building of the St Stephen's Hospital in Hervey Bay.

Mr Pitt, the money was allocated for this hospital in Labor Treasurer Wayne Swan's budget.

Second, Mr Pitt, the allocation was made in the Labor budget before you were even elected to parliament.

How you can claim any responsibility for this, Mr Pitt, is completely beyond me and, I'm sure, most of the thinking voters of

Hinkler.
