Group chairman quits

BURNETT Mary Regional Group chairman Russell Stewart has resigned for personal reasons.

On Thursday Mr Stewart asked the group’s board of directors for an early release from his contract. He will finish work in March.

Mr Stewart has been chairman of the group for almost four years.

He said the decision to resign was difficult.

“I have worked hard to make major improvements to the way that our group conducts its important business of repairing our local environment,” he said.

“I strongly believe that more reforms are needed.”
