Jetstar, Virgin Australia cancel Bali flights due to volcano
TRAVELLERS hoping for a Bali holiday have had their plans dashed as volcanic ash causes flights to be cancelled in and out of Denpasar airport.
Both Virgin Australia and Jetstar have cancelled all flights in and out of Bail on Tuesday evening after a volcanic eruption on Mount Rinjani, on the Indonesian island of Lombok, caused flying conditions to be deemed "unsafe".
All flights for both airlines on Wednesday have also been cancelled.
Jetstar told customers in a statement that they will monitor the movement of the ash cloud with the latest from the Volcanic Ash Advisory Centre.
"While we regret the frustration these cancellations will cause, the safety of our customers and crew is always our first priority."
