Jarvis and Surmon win big

JOE Jarvis and Rebecca Surmon were the biggest winners at the Bundaberg Rowing Club’s annual presentation dinner.

Jarvis received the Senior Member of the Year awarded which is presented to “the Club member who has been enthusiastic and willing to provide consistent and outstanding assistance to the club in all areas of operation”.

Surmon picked up the Junior Member of the Year gong for the “Junior Club Member who has displayed exemplary character and true Bundaberg Rowing Spirit”.

Coach of the Year was taken out by Cassie White with Sam Fregonese picking up the Coxswain of the Year.

2010 School Rower Award age winners were: Rick Bennett (13 years male), Emily Stuart (13 female), Mitchell Eichman (14 male), Emma and Demi Pressler-McHugh (14 female), Luke Chivers (15 male), Erin Gibson (15 female), Nathan Penny (16 male), Sophie Jarvis (16 female), Joel Lindsay (17 open male) and Sarah Leworthy (17 open female).

Rod Silcox and Mandy Lindsay received Tyrian Lodge Awards for “meritorious service and commitment to school rowing”.

Rowing Queensland Ross Symonds, formerly from Bundaberg, was the guest speaker for the dinner.

The club is now preparing to host the Queensland State Championship Regatta on December 4 and 5.
