It's now or never for Treseder in Aussie Racing Cars
MOTORSPORT: Bundaberg's Kel Treseder knows he needs a charge to the top in the Aussie Racing Car series to stay in the title hunt.
The former karter, sixth in the standings after a tough opening round in Adelaide, will compete in Townsville this weekend.
After only getting one point back in the championship in the past two rounds, Treseder is aiming to make this weekend count.
"We desperately need a strong result,” he said.
"We hope to be at the pointy end and hope to be on the right end of those contending for the championship.”
Townsville will be another circuit the KKP Motorsport driver hasn't been to but that doesn't worry him.
"We've gone better than expected at new circuits when we have raced at them,” he said.
Treseder said the car had the same strong set-up from Clipsal in Adelaide and had a recent test session that went well.
He said qualifying would be important and hoped a recent get-together with Supercars championship leader Scott McLaughlin would translate into success.
"His advice was if you can pick up the track at Clipsal, you'll be right in Townsville,” he said.
"I'd love a bit of his recent success to rub off on me.”
Today's racing starts at 8.20am.
