Wins for Buccaneers, Mariners

THE winless Isis Crushers will face Alloway Falcons in a do-or-die semi-final next weekend after the Childers-based club slumped to another embarrassing loss in the NewsMail Spring Cup on Friday night.

The East Coast Buccaneers crushed Isis 68-3 in an embarrassing showing.

But all eyes were on Hervey Bay Mariners in the final round of the Spring Cup season as they completed an undefeated run through the competition.

The Mariners were clinical on Friday night, demolishing the Barbarians 29-3 to earn the week off in the opening round of the finals series.

The contest had been billed as one of the most anticipated of the Spring Cup season, with Barbarians showing solid form in the lead-up to the date with the all-conquering Mariners.

But the Hervey Bay side was too strong and again showed it was a class above the Bundaberg competition.

Meanwhile the Isis Crushers sit in a completely opposite position heading into a tough finals series, winless.

They will have to notch a first win of the season against the Falcons in the first week of the finals.

The Buccaneers will take-on the Barbarians in the second semi-final.

The loser of that game will play the winner of the Isis-Falcons in the second week of the finals, while the winner will meet the Mariners.
