THERE is one street in Bundaberg that has an almost legendary status when it comes to creating Christmas cheer.

Thomas Healy Dr in East Bundaberg is hit with festive fever every December with residents showering their homes with beautiful lights and decorations.

According to resident Kathy Falla, the whole street gets in on the fun.

"It is great here - there are people walking around the street at all hours of the night, mainly around 7pm to 9pm. My husband and I went for a walk just last night to see what everyone was doing and it looks fantastic," she said.

Mrs Falla said her family had lived in Thomas Healy Dr for almost three years and hopped on the Christmas light bandwagon as soon as they moved in.

"The people who we bought this house from actually left four boxes of lights here in the roof for us."

This year, the Falla family have included a blow up nativity scene in their front yard along with lots of sparkly lights and decorations.

"We started to put everything up about two weekends before December because it takes a few weekends to get everything organised," Mrs Falla said.

"Because it is so hot you are doing it first thing in the morning and the last thing at night."

Mrs Falla said it was a great way to mingle with the neighbours and keep the magic of Christmas alive for the Bundaberg community.

"Not every house does it, there is about 80% of the street that is involved. I have three teenage daughters. They love it. They don't help us put the lights up but they love it when we do it," she said.

"It gets bigger and bigger every year. It is a time of year when you do actually talk to your neighbours because we are all out putting up decorations and getting in on the fun?"

"We have little kids and families walking up the driveway and having their photos taken. It is just a lovely thing to see."
