International model flies in from NY Fashion Week for ball

WHEN British television personality Kelly Osbourne requests to sit beside you at New York Fashion Week and Lady Gaga has you in her sights, your celebrity status is pretty much confirmed.

International modelling sensation Madeline Stuart didn't look jet lagged when she arrived in Bundaberg on Saturday for a meet and greet with fans at Sugarland Shoppingtown before a guest appearance at the gala Ability Ball, despite returning from New York just two days prior.

Madeline, who has Down Syndrome, charmed fans and signed autographs at the shopping centre with Home and Away cast members Scott Lee and Raechell Banno before attending the ball, where she performed with the Inside Outside Dance Ensemble.

"When she's performing, people are cheering for her. She gets a standing ovation at every show she does for New York Fashion Week," Rosanne said.

This was Maddy's third season in New York and her schedule doesn't look like easing up any time soon with Russia, London, Uganda, South Africa, Alaska, Sweden, Tokyo, Dubai and Lebanon fashion shows coming up.

While her modelling campaign is still in its infancy, Maddy's determination, which saw her lose 20kg through dance, will likely see her career continue to skyrocket.

And like any teenager, Maddy likes to dress herself.

"She likes to look pretty at all times," Rosanne said.

"If she knew I'd let her she'd probably go out in a ball gown every day."

Her rise to fame is inspirational and proof that we are capable of anything we set our minds to.
