Kolan home gets boost
REGIONAL senior citizens living independently have plenty to look forward to with funding coming their way.
Federal Member for Flynn Chris Trevor has announced funding will be contributed to support local Gin Gin residents under the government's Home and Community Care Program.
“The Home and Community Care Program provides support for local residents that need a little help to keep living independently in their own homes,” Mr Trevor said.
“Local residents have assured me that they would prefer to keep living in their own homes, amongst their family and friends, for as long as they can and this funding will help them do this,” Mr Trevor said.
Kolan Home and Community Care will receive $211,000 to provide various services to the local community.
This will be given in addition to $65,000 to purchase computer equipment, a vehicle and to make a number of building modifications.
“Services that can be offered under this important program can include help with household chores, home maintenance and modifications, transport, meals as well as personal and nursing care,” Mr Trevor said.
“I am proud to be delivering this increased funding for local residents of Gin Gin and surrounding areas which means that this local facility can take on more clients and offer more help and support to the local community,” Mr Trevor said.
Blue Care North Burnett will also be a lucky recipient of funding from the Home and Community Care Program.
They will receive over $1.8 million in funding.
This will provide various services to the local community as well as a lump sum payment of $34,500 which is intended to purchase a vehicle to transport residents.
