'Independence, experience and commitment' key for Cr Barnes

What is your biggest achievement in the past four years?

Consultation - I've put considerable effort into making Division 5 the most connected and engaged community within the region through the establishment of my weekly Community Consultation Desk, a strong social media/website presence and increased face-to-face and on-site discussions with residents.

Disaster recovery - Council did an outstanding job under very difficult circumstances.

Infrastructure - Two major roundabouts in Division 5 and the start of the Hughes Rd Extension which will make local transport along the coast much safer and more efficient.

Economy - Securing the investment by Knauf Industries and the Gas Pipeline project for the Port.

What is the biggest disappointment in this time?

The Barolin St upgrade project.

Why should people vote you back in?

A proven track record. I'm not making unsustainable or unachievable promises. I've done the hard yards and proven my independence and experience together with my commitment and ability to engage with the community at a "coalface" level.

What is your main priority for the next four years?

Completion of the Hughes Rd Extension and Turtle Trail pathway.

Improved playground and drainage facilities at Bargara South/Innes Park North.

Establishing a Procurement and Consultancy Overview Committee.
