Improved venue for rum festival

THE Spirit of Bundaberg Festival will have a brand new stomping ground when it returns to the region in October.

Bundaberg Rum senior brand manager Duncan Littler said the 2016 festival would be the first to take place at the new and improved visitors centre at the distillery grounds.

He said the new centre was part of an $8 million upgrade to make the distillery and festival a world-class tourist attraction and a must for anyone travelling to Queensland.

"We're excited that this year's Spirit of Bundaberg Festival will bring locals and visitors together for one day to celebrate the spirit of the Bundaberg region," he said.

The festival has been crowned with many achievements, in most recent times, it was named the Best Distillery Event in the World at the Distillery Experience Awards 2016 by Drinks International - a global industry publication.

In March, Bundaberg Rum was named the World's Best Rum for its Bundaberg Blenders Edition 2015 at the World Drinks Awards. The limited edition blend was launched at the Spirit of Bundaberg Festival in October 2015.

"We're immensely proud of what the Spirit of Bundaberg Festival has achieved in the few short years it has been in operation and look forward to the 2016 event," Mr Littler said.

The Spirit of Bundaberg Festival is set to be held at the Bundaberg Distillery on October 15.
