Hostel ‘has live-in onsite staffing’

THE owner of an old Wallaville church that is being turned into a backpackers' hostel has rejected suggestions it did not have an onsite manager.

Some residents of Wallaville have expressed their concern there would be no supervision of the backpackers.

But owner Jason Macdonald said he had never said the hostel would be without an onsite manager.

Mr Macdonald said two staff members of his have lived at the hostel since the development was started.

"They work for me in another business during the day and stay there at night, so it has never been unattended," he said

Mr Macdonald also said the work he had to do at the hostel was almost complete.
