Hodgson the inspiration for new Jets’ boss
NEWLY-appointed Newcastle Jets head coach Scott Miller says he was inspired to take the role after a meeting with England boss Roy Hodgson.
Miller, 33, left Australia for England on a one-way ticket almost a decade ago and has worked at former EPL and now Championship club Fulham for the past nine years.
He said a recent discussion with Hodgson - who took a struggliing Fulham to a Europa League final against Atletico Madrid in 2010 - had convinced him the challenge of turning around a club starved of success was one of the great opportunities in football.
"He reminded me over that half-hour conversation why I'm sitting here now," Miller told reporters.
His right-hand man will be former Melbourne Victory assistant coach Jean-Paul de Marigny. Both have signed two-year contracts with FFA which is running the club while new ownership models are being explored.
