Heat on NRL as Titans complain about day games

RUGBY LEAGUE: Gold Coast Titans officials have urged the NRL not to schedule them any more early season home games during the day following an avalanche of criticism from overheated fans on social media.

The club was feeling the heat yesterday as angry fans who cooked in the open grandstands in sweltering 40-plus temperatures on Sunday took to Facebook and Twitter to bag the decision to play the game at 2pm.

Their mood wasn't helped by the fact the Titans produced an inept defensive effort to lose 42-12 to underdogs Wests Tigers.

Titans operations manager Graham Annesley (pictured) sent a letter to fans after the game, apologising for the conditions they suffered through.

The club appears to have a legitimate gripe considering Brisbane is locked into 10 Friday night games, while the Cowboys will host most of their home games in Townsville in the early evenings.
