Hearing set for alleged bashers

FIVE men accused of bashing a Burnett Heads man with baseball bats will face a committal hearing on February 14 and 15 next year.

Christopher Robert Bosotas, Matthew Sam Bost, Danny Thomas Moran , 24, of Bargara, Troy Justin Giudice, 35, of Moore Park, and Geoffrey David Richards, 34, of Moore Park, all face charges of assault causing bodily harm, common assault, stealing, wilful damage and entering a dwelling with intent by break and enter, from an alleged offence on July 2.

Four defence lawyers stood at the bar table to discuss a date for the hearing, with only Moran appearing in court.

Defence lawyer Kel Pearson said a two-day committal would be a “conservative estimate”.

Magistrate Jennifer Batts set the hearing down for February 14 and 15 next year.

Bosotas, Bost and Giudice were all allowed to continue on Supreme Court bail and Richards' and Moran's undertakings were enlarged until the 2011 hearing.
