Hancock makes it two in a row

COURTNEY Hancock has made it two event wins for 2012 braving the big swell at Portsea on the Mornington Peninsula to continue her amazing start to the Ironwoman season.

Hancock won the first of the two race event and finished fourth in the second, to claim an overall round two win and extend her lead at the top of the Kellogg's Ironwoman series.

The Sawtell local was overjoyed with the round win especially after being thrown to shore in the second race with Sister Bonnie Hancock and closest rival Liz Pluimers.

"Kristyl, Bonnie and I absolutely got nailed on the shore today," Hancock said.

"It was probably exciting for everyone watching today but I was really quite nervous when I jumped on that ski and got going again.

"I figured out I was in about eighth so it was quite nerve-racking in that last race

Bonnie Hancock bounced back from her disappointing 17th placing at surfers Paradise one with a 6th overall finish in round two.

A third place finish in the first race of the day showed that her extra focus following her poor round one finish has paid dividends.

Following two rounds of competition Courtney Hancock leads the series on 50 points, ten ahead of Krystl Smith.

Bonnie Hancock sits in 11th place on 19 points.

The series will move to Newcastle on January 22 for round three.
