Hairdresser Loren heads to England

HIGH-FLYING hairdresser Loren Sologinkin is spreading her wings to join one of the most prestigious salons in England.

As part of a prize for winning the title of Young Protégé of the Year at the Australian Hair Fashion Awards last year, the La Vita senior stylist went to London to study new techniques.

Miss Sologinkin spent several weeks working in the swanky Hob Salon at Camden, which caters to up-and-coming musicians, starlets and the high-fashion set.

“I loved working there, and the style was a season ahead of Australia so it was exciting,” she said.

Salon owner and two-time British Hairdresser of the Year champion Akin Konizi was equally impressed with Miss Sologinkin's talent, and offered her a job as a stylist.

“I will be working hard and learning a lot,” Miss Sologinkin said. “I'll be facing the unknown in some ways, but it is such an exciting opportunity. I couldn't have done it without the support of my family and clients.”

Miss Sologinkin said she hoped her trip would prove to other young people in Bundaberg that they could get ahead even if they did not come from one of the capital cities.

“I'm from a regional town, so I take every chance I'm given - I've done everything in my power to get where I am, and prove you can do whatever you want to do if you have enough passion, inspiration and support.”
