Gymfinity shines at the CQ regionals
GYMNASTICS: Gymfinity remains one of the best clubs in Central Queensland, a fact confirmed at the recent junior regionals held in Gladstone.
The club finished second overall at the competition earlier this month in levels 3-6 in girls and levels 3-4 in boys.
Gymfinity was beaten by Gladstone but was able to finish first overall in level 4 and level 6.
The club also had 18 gymnasts qualify for the upcoming state titles in Brisbane with eight girls also securing places in the women's artistic gymnastics junior regional team.
"We had 50 competitors compete and it was a brilliant effort from the team,” Gymfinity coach Tracy Hogan said.
"A few girls also won overall and on their apparatuses which was great.”
Jayla Melein was one gymnast who excelled.
She took out level 4 under ahead of fellow Gymfinity competitor Evelyn James who finished second.
In a family affair Jayla's brother Tanner Melein finished third in level 3 under.
"We have a few siblings competing so it was great to see them all do well,” Hogan said.
"We had lots of babies (young gymnasts) competing for the first time so for a first up performance they were fantastic.”
In other results Gymfinity clean swept the podium in level 4 open with Freddy James winning ahead of Dylan Lynch and Sean Andreoli.
The gymnasts will now train for the state titles, on from September 16-19.
