Gun attack puts Sweden on edge

AN ATTACK by unknown shooters in one city and the discovery of a suspicious device outside a primary school in another had Swedish police scrambling yesterday.

Reports of the gunfire in the city of Malmo were sketchy with one eyewitness saying about 20 shots were fired by people in an Audi, while some media re- ported there were gunmen on motor scooters.

Four people were injured, including one who was shot in the head. Later, the suspicious device was found in Gothenburg, raising fears Sweden was under threat in a coordinated attack by extremists.
