Guilty Ferguson is handed good behaviour bond
FORMER Canberra Raiders star Blake Ferguson has been handed a two-year good behaviour bond after being found guilty of indecently assaulting a woman in a Sydney nightclub in June last year.
Ferguson (pictured) was sentenced in Sutherland Local Court yesterday morning.
His lawyer argued the damage done to Ferguson's reputation, and the loss of his football career, were punishment enough.
The 23-year-old was stood down from the New South Wales Origin squad following the nightclub incident.
He returned to play one game for the Raiders in round 22, but after suffering an injury he failed to return to the Canberra club and was sacked in early September.
Ferguson's good behaviour bond will be supervised, with a focus on alcohol rehabilitation. The court was told Ferguson had a difficult childhood and a history of alcohol abuse.
