Greyhounds start new year with new format
THE Bundaberg Racing Club hopes a new concept will attract more Rockhampton trainers to the region.
Starting today, for the first time, two races will be held as heats to qualify for a race in Rockhampton on January 18.
A dog that finishes in the top four in race seven and eight will qualify for upcoming event.
Club president Stephen Bland said it would help Bundaberg trainers.
"Rockhampton has TAB facilities so our trainers will compete for more prize money,” he said.
"It also allows Rockhampton trainers to come down here to compete.”
A strong filed features in the eight-race program on today.
All the action starts at 1.30pm.
