Greens Senator moves motion while breastfeeding

THERE were broad smiles of delight in the Upper House yesterday when Greens senator Larissa Waters rose to her feet to move a motion as she breastfed her baby daughter, Alia.

The senator made headlines in May when she became the first federal politician to breastfeed in parliament, after the rules were changed last year to allow the practice.

After successfully moving her motion on black lung disease, Sen Waters tweeted: "First time I've had to move a senate motion while breastfeeding! And my partner in crime moved her own motion just before mine, bless her."
