Plenty to discover on North Coast

THE beautiful and evocative natural landscapes of the NSW North Coast offer locals a huge variety of world-class holiday options which not only help save the environment but also the family budget.

National Parks and Wildlife Service (NPWS) Discovery co-ordinator Andrew Turbill said that National Parks Discovery holiday activities were the perfect way to enjoy an ecotourism adventure right on your own door–step.

“We have a massive program on offer this summer, full of many new and exciting ranger-guided activities in and around Yuraygir National Park,” he said.

“Immersing yourself in nature can be relaxing, inspiring and educational all at the same time.

“We are honoured to have local Aboriginal Elder Uncle Ron Heron back again this summer to paddle with you on the Sandon Canoe Adventures as part of our ongoing focus and commitment to increase Discovery guided Aboriginal cultural tour activities.

“A new activity we are pleased to offer this summer is just for the little adventurers in your home – Stories in the Forest.

“Bring your small child along to Illaroo or Sandon to hear local Discovery rangers reading beautiful, nature-themed story books. Why sit in the library when you can enjoy stories in Yuraygir National Park?

“Discovery rangers will also be expanding our incredibly popular rock pool ramble activities and venturing to the Illaroo and Diggers Camp rock platforms this summer.

“Another truly wild experience can be found these holidays on the NPWS Discovery Red Cliff adventure. Come along and learn about the history of this awe-inspiring rock face which is a landmark used by ships at sea.”
