Grace awarded overseas scholarship to study, intern

GRACE Manahan is going from Stanthorpe to Singapore after being awarded a scholarship to live, study and intern overseas.

Ms Manahan is one of 120 people to be awarded the 2018 New Colombo Plan scholarships.

She is studying a bachelor of laws and bachelor of government and international relations at Griffith University and will study international law at the National University of Singapore.

Maranoa MP David Littleproud said the scholarship was a way to support the nation's best and brightest.

"During the almost six-month internship, Ms Manahan plans to undertake a research internship in Singapore and an internship with an international law firm in China," he said.

"Grace is a wonderful role model, proving great opportunities are available in regional communities and all you have to do is set your goals."

The New Colombo Plan is a signature initiative of the Federal Government to lift knowledge of the Indo-Pacific by supporting Australian undergraduates to study and intern in the region.
