GOOGLE Japan has embraced April Fools Day by 'launching' a new product: The Magic Hand version for inputting Japanese text.

"Today, we are proud to announce the new version of Google Japanese Input," Google Japan said.

"We have developed a device that helps make input on touchscreens even more accurate and convenient."

A video demonstrates how the oversized novelty joystick-controlled finger eliminates smudges and fingerprints on touch screens.

"Simply place your tablet in front of the Magic Hand and the device will automatically detect the location of the keys," the video says.

"When you grab the joystick, the device powers up."

The video also shows how customers are able to customise their devices with left-handed index fingers, thumbs or even cat paws.
