Juniors flood in for carnival

THE Junior Carnival was played here at Oakwood Park Golf Club last Sunday.

There were 73 juniors from all over the Wide Bay Area playing. Nick Rogers, from Bargara Golf Club, won the 18-hole Boys’ Division One.

He shot 72 off the stick to be named as gross winner of the day.

Kieran Braun, from Hervey Bay Golf Club, won the gross in division two with 81. Codie Redman-Dickie, from Bargara Golf Club, won the nine-hole boys’ division with his 45 gross score. For the nine-hole girls’ it was J Peters, from Bundaberg Golf Club, winning it with her 51 off the stick.

The six-hole boys’ was won by Dylan Petersen, of Hervey Bay Golf Club, who turned in a gross of 27. Dana Brims, from Maryborough Golf Club, won the six-hole girls’ with her 32 but it had to come from a count back with club member Anniston Chappell.

Congratulations to all the other winners of the day. We enjoyed having you and we look forward to next year’s event.

Saturday was the Pacific Golfers 4BBB Challenge. Duane Davis and Shane Robertson paired well together. They won with 49 stableford points. Merv Smith and John Leigh claimed second place with 47 points. They beat the teams of John Macfarland and John Briggs and Bev Standen and Ros Savidge on a count back.

In conjunction with Saturday’s 4BBB, members who didn’t play in the challenge were blindly paired up with partners for the little best ball event.

Unexpected winners were Nick Warner and Jeff Bewley with 54 pts. Delys Warner and Wayne George were runners up with 47 points.
