Glamour creates a bond, James Bond, with kids’ plight

DUST off that tuxedo and practise your poker face for Umoja Orphanage Kenya's second annual charity gala dinner on July 20 at The Waves.

Casino Royale is the theme of this year's event, which promises plenty of casino games and all the glitz and glamour of Vegas.

Umoja volunteer Shanyn Limpus said this year's event was a great opportunity to celebrate the hard work and generosity of volunteers and supporters of the project.

"We had such great feedback from last year's event and we're hoping that people will get together a group of friends and help us make it a full house," she said.

"Matthew Barker and Electric Banana will be the entertainment on the night and there will be casino games being played throughout the night," she said.

There will be some great prizes up for grabs in raffles, live auctions as well as a prize for best-dressed, and guests will receive a complimentary drink and enjoy a two-course meal.

All proceeds from the gala dinner will fund the first children's home, which will provide an alternative to child abandonment in Kenya. Tickets are $85 and can be purchased by phoning 0407 715 765 or head online to www.umojahome.com and follow the link.
