Police station evacuated because of suspicious package

THE Gladstone Police station has been evacuated after a suspicious package was delivered to the station this afternoon.
The station was evacuated at 1.50pm after a caustic-smelling package was handed in by a member of the public.
The fire brigade was called to the scene to perform an air quality test. Based on the results of the sample, the building was advised to evacuate.
The Officer in Charge at the station confirmed the item was not an explosive nor illicit drugs.
The chemical composition of the item is yet to be confirmed.
