Girls drink to topless barmen

IT'S no secret that everyone loves a bit of eye candy, especially when you're checking out the nightlife in Mackay's City Heart at the weekends.

Ladies, let me introduce you to Jordan Jujnovich, who is one of six topless barmen at the Ambassador Hotel 'My Bar' on Friday and Saturday nights.

It's the only place in town you'll find them.

When dressed in his black pants uniform, Jordan, along with Andrew McKenzie, Tyson Masters, Sean Gillies, Adrian Lindsay and Brendan Sant, really brings the Sydney St hotel to life.

Jordan, who is from Kaitaia, on New Zealand's north island, said bar work supported his bank account during his stint at university, but he was new to the topless scene.

"It's hot in Mackay, I'm having trouble with the heat so it's easier to work with a shirt off," he said.

"Tips are good! We do body shots, provide excellent service and mix nice cocktails.

"It's not something I thought I'd ever do.

"I was surprised how relaxed I felt working as opposed to the start of the (first) night."

The Ambassador re-opened on September 30 after closing in December 2010 for renovations.

Manager Jody Firth said the men had been good for business.

"We've got Showbar for the guys, (but) there's nothing for the ladies; we're looking after the ladies," she said.

TOP PICKS

  • Jordan's pick: Sugar shots and strawberry martinis.
  • Andrew's choice: Bootylicious.
  • Jody's recommendation: A teapot filled with a cocktail or a drink of your choice.
