Girls dice with rain for pairs bowls

THE Bundaberg District Ladies Pairs were decided at Burnett Bowls Club during the week.

With rain interruptions to the sectional play on Wednesday the semi-finals were eventually decided on Thursday.

Helen Foster and Sue Petterson won an all-Burnett contest over Daph McCracken and Chris Pickwick securing a place in the final.

Burnett players Glennis Lock and Maree Wilkins played too well for Woodgate's Heather Hauesler and Karen Henderson.

With four Burnett players on their home green in the final it was the experience of Lock and Wilkins proving to be the difference.

Congratulations to Glennis and Maree making it back to back titles in the BDLB pairs.

On the carpet surface at Bargara over the weekend three greens of men's pairs toughed it out for the prize money.

Steve McNamee and Jason Andrewartha showed their class remaining undefeated after the six rounds taking out the major prize.

Tony Townson and Ian McMah were placed second and on a countback to decide third and fourth, Tony Arvidsson and Brian McMah's superior margin, relegated Tim Smith and Darren McCracken to fourth.

Well done to all teams and the organisers on a successful weekend of bowls. This weekend is sure to see more great bowls with local and visiting teams vying for the Moore Park $7000 men's fours tournament.
