Girl steals iPhone

A TEENAGER who stole an iPhone from a girl's bag on a night out pleaded guilty to stealing and public nuisance yesterday.

Police Prosecutor Senior Constable Fiona Ward told the court Helena Marie Fisher, 17, of Bargara stole the phone on April 29 while on probation.

A girl placed her handbag, which contained the phone, on a bench at the Club Hotel near the dance floor about 11.40pm.

When she finished dancing, her handbag had been stolen.

It was located in a bin in the female toilets but the iPhone was gone.

CCTV identified the defendant who admitted to taking the phone for her personal use.

She was placed on probation for 12 months and fined $240.
