Gin Gin pilot spreads wings
GIN GIN pilot Rachel Mullett has spread her wings and flown the coop, opening an adventure flight business with her partner in Toowoomba.
Ms Mullett and her partner Tim Berry have imported a rare T28 Trojan war bird with a new mission of fun rather than the fighting it was once used for in the Korean and Vietnam wars.
Ms Mullett comes from a family of aviators, with her grandfather Boodie, father Jim and two brothers Harry and Alastair all pilots.
"Aviation has always been in my blood," she said.
"Some of my earliest memories are watching my grandfather and my father take off and land on the family air strip."
But the rare Trojan she and her partner will use in their business is a whole different class of aeroplane to the Comanches and Cessnas she grew up with.
"The Trojan is the most fun you can have flying - it ticks all the boxes, it's loud, fast and powerful with an added bonus of the best view," Ms Mullett said.
