Gift shop always a welcome attraction
SMELL, touch, sight - your senses will come alive with a visit to the Childers Heritage Gift Shop and Post Office.
Since taking over ownership in 1994, owners Peter and Janet Anderson have worked hard to really bring this beautiful building to life.
As you step inside you are immediately taken by the specialness of this Heritage-listed building with its silky oak counters and immense space.
Janet said after more than 20 years as part of the Childers community, the gift shop and post office had developed a reputation as the place to go to purchase unique and stunning gifts.
"Given that we are so well located in the Childers CBD, we have many locals stopping in for a browse but are also enjoyed by visitors travelling through the town,” she said.
"We have really tried to make the store something to be admired and ensured that all our gift lines are truly special with some even coming from America.
"The lines available are really our blend and things that we hand pick ourselves to ensure they are of an exceptional standard and something people will enjoy.
"The festival is a special time for us because being open on Saturday and Sunday until 4pm we are able to catch up with a lot of customers we may not see often.”
A hugely popular part of the shop during the festival is the end of line bargain section that is near the gift shop; although Janet advises that you have to get in early for that special something as people are often lining up for the good specials.
As a spacious and major gift shop, The Childers Heritage Gift Shop and Post Office stock jewellery with sterling silver and other fashion lines, stunning artificial flowers, toiletries, fine china, 100% cotton nighties, candles and even handbags.
One popular line is the Silver Spoon jewellery from America, although designed by an Australian designer.
"We love what we do and being able to provide such a wonderful and unique service to our customers.”
