Giant teddy bear to help launch National Op Shop Week

A GIANT teddy bear is helping RSPCA Queensland launch National Op Shop Week, which kicked off yesterday and runs until Saturday, August 29.

Norbert, as his owners called him, was donated to the RSPCA to help raise funds and give them some space.

"He took up most of their apartment," said RSPCA spokesman Michael Beatty.

"They were sad to see him go but we've assured them we'll be able to rehome him.

"We had to get a special truck to pick him up but then we couldn't squeeze him in the elevator to get him upstairs.

He'll be on display in the foyer until the end of next week."

RSPCA Queensland has 13 op shops in Queensland and all the shops will have specials on during the week and Newfarm will have a special after-hours fashion expose from 6-8pm Thursday, August 27.

RSPCA Queensland Op Shops can be found in Bundaberg, Maryborough, Gympie, Strathpine, Moorooka, Sherwood, Wacol, Robina, Miami, West Burleigh and North Tamborine.
