Get ready for a very cold snap
WEATHER: The weather is looking a little mixed for the weekend, but the good news is that the strong winds of the past day or two should start to ease across the weekend - but get prepared for a very cold snap to move into the area on Monday.
Today's winds will be moderate and gusty at about 15-20 knots from the east before they drop right back tomorrow with 5-10 knots of variable winds through the morning that will swing from the N/NW at 10-15 knots through the afternoon.
Sunday will see the winds swing again, this time from the W/SW to SW at about 15-20 knots as temperatures start to cool off again. Scattered showers are a possibility today and tomorrow before the sun becomes more prevalent on Sunday and into Monday.
SWIMMING: Today's swimming conditions will be ordinary with messy and choppy oceans - especially on the open beaches. The weekend will see a definite improvement in these swimming conditions though, with great swimming conditions expected through tomorrow and Sunday.
With high tides due in the very early mornings (pre-dawn) and again in the late afternoons and early evenings, the best time for a swim will be from early to mod-morning and then again from mid to late afternoon.
Kellys Beach and Elliott Heads will be the best beaches for swimming tomorrow, while all beaches will be smooth and glassy on Sunday with the offshore wind change.
Swim only at patrolled beaches, during patrol times and always between the red and yellow flags - remember, if we can't see you, we can't save you.
BEACH PATROLS: Today - 9am-5pm at Kellys Beach and Agnes Water only
Tomorrow and Sunday - 9am-5pm at Kellys Beach and Agnes Water only
Weekdays - 9am-5pm at Agnes Water only
SURFING: Choppy and messy conditions have been the norm for the past day or two with strong onshore winds, but there have been a few small, but fun-sized waves about for the school holiday crowd.
Unfortunately, the wave heights will decrease through today and across the weekend, but the waves that are about will at least be a lot cleaner (but smaller). Check out the open beaches across the weekend through the early mornings and again from mid afternoon.
