Future plan for North Burnett

A PLAN that outlines the future goals and aspirations of communities across the North Burnett has now been adopted after months of consultation.

The council made the decision to adopt the North Burnett Region Community Plan 2011-2022 at a special meeting held in Mundubbera on Tuesday, November 29.

Mayor Joy Jensen said the plan was crucial in addressing challenges currently being faced in the region, such as on-going economic adjustment, maintaining the quality of the environment and ensuring appropriate services were available.

"The plan is based on the views and aspirations of residents and a wide range of community members have been directly involved in shaping the plan," Cr Jensen said.

She said the plan would bring together a wide range of sectors and communities across the region and describe a common direction and practical actions to achieve it.

"Some actions relate to local government, but most will require effort and resources from state government, the private sector and the community itself," she said.

On behalf of council, the mayor thanked residents of each of the towns and surrounding areas who contributed their time, knowledge and insight to the plan.

A funding partnership between Queensland Gas Company and the council also made the development of the plans possible.
