Fun run helping to stop glow

AT just seven years old, Ella Cedargreen is looking forward to doing her part to help the turtles at the Joggers for Loggers fun run on Sunday morning.

“I think turtles are excellent because they are nice and pretty, and they don't hurt anyone,” Ella said.

The Bargara State School student will take part in the 2.5km run, which starts from Turtle Playground on the Bargara Esplanade at 8am on Sunday to help raise awareness about the turtle rookery and how to cut the glow heading into turtle season.

An 8km circuit is available for runners who want to go the extra distance.

Mon Repos Conservation Park ranger in charge Cathy Gatley said registration would begin from 7.45am.

“It's about getting the local community involved and letting them see what happens at Mon Repos,” she said.

Activities and information displays will be available after the run, as well as prizes.
