Another hat thrown in the ring for Division 7
RICHARD Freudenberg will focus on job creation, reducing rates and improving the Bundaberg lifestyle as he campaigns for a seat on Bundaberg Regional Council this year.
The certified builder will be familiar to many in the region as he ran as an independent in the 2015 State election.
"I found this to be a beneficial exercise that gave me the opportunity to exhibit fresh new ideas for the people of the region," Mr Freudenberg said, in a written statement.
"Although I did not get a lot of votes, I did gain a lot of knowledge, and I met many great people."
The married father of two said he was encouraged by many voters, and elected representatives, to run for the Division 6 seat at the March 19 poll.
Since then he has decided to run for Division 7.
Mr Freudenberg said many people living in the Division 7 electorate had the same concerns as elsewhere.
"They feel somewhat neglected by their representative, they feel that there is little or no consultation and they feel that rates are too high with no value for money," he said.
Mr Freudenberg said if elected, he would work hard for Bundaberg.
"As an elected representative I will work to create growth, jobs and new economic prosperity, whilst improving our lifestyles, and personal enjoyment of our region," he said.
"In more detail just a few of the items that I would like to address are - halting the youth exodus from the region, reducing rates costs and providing better value for those rates.
"As the election draws nearer I will provide further detail of the path that will achieve respect, pride and opportunity."
Mr Freudenberg said he had spoken with all the mayoral candidates to wish them well.
"Whoever is elected as mayor I will fully support in their quest to improve the region," he said.
