Freo dealt Fyfe blow ahead of Cats clash

AFL: Fremantle has been dealt a big blow on the eve of its clash with Geelong, with star midfielder Nat Fyfe ruled out due to injury.

Fyfe has been battling a series of niggling injury issues recently, having missed the overwhelming majority of last season due to a leg problem.

It is a huge blow for the Dockers, who are coming off the bye but are in the midst of a disappointing three-match losing streak.

Cam Sutcliffe replaces Fyfe in an extended 25-man squad, with untried youngster Sean Darcy set to debut. Rookie Josh Deluca is also a chance to play his first game.

Geelong has its own injury worries, with Fyfe's fellow Brownlow Medal winner Patrick Dangerfield leaving training early this week due to hamstring tightness.

However, it's believed it was only a precautionary measure, with the Cats confident that Dangerfield will play on Sunday afternoon.
