Free sport for Bundy kids
MORE than 700 children in the Bundaberg region will be kept active after funding was approved to continue the Active After-School Communities (AASC) program.
The federal government announced $43.5 million to continue to program until the end of next year.
The program will allow 21 schools and after school care centres in Bundaberg to provide free after school sport.
AASC Qld manager Brigid Walsh said without the program, 90% of participating kids would not be engaged in structured physical activity.
“The AASC program provides positive and fun experiences to engage children who may not otherwise participate in sport and physical activity,” she said.
