Free spirited musician records first solo project

LEAD guitarist of well-known indie rock quintet Average Art Club, Ayden Roberts, has branched out with his first solo project Ciao Bella.

The EP title translates to "hello and goodbye beautiful" and is a sunny ode to the honeymoon phase of a relationship.

Eight tracks starring plants, chickens and the beach, echo a free spirit who has his feet on the ground and head in the clouds, or somewhere between the two.

The EP is the culmination of his creative arts degree at the University of Southern Queensland where Roberts studied a year each of voice, guitar and song-writing and is now finishing honours.

Self-described as "poppy folk" it's music designed to connect with people, which is what the musician is all about.

"It's cool if people hear a song and go, I can see what he's saying. We all love someone, right?" Roberts said.

But the talented musician needs help to get his music out there.

He's calling out for friends and fans to help back his kick-starter project, to print the EP.

"I hope to raise $2000 by the end of August.

"I'm halfway there."
