Sugar industry talks a sweet deal
INTERNATIONAL cane experts and Australian specialists will launch a sugar industry information tour in Bundaberg on Monday.
Hot topics in the jam-packed agenda include the upcoming overhaul of the Australian sugarcane industry's research and development sector, and discussions on how the current crisis in funding BSES can be resolved.
International pricing and marketing giant Czarnikow will fly directors out from London and Singapore to talk about the dynamics of the market for sugar, and particularly growers' involvement with futures trading.
Tour sponsor Queensland Sugar Limited will host talks on its pricing product offerings for 2011 and beyond.
Attendees at the free meetings will also hear the latest on reef regulation and other environmental issues relating to their area, and meet new Canegrowers chief executive officer Steve Greenwood and chairman Alf Cristaudo.
The 10-meeting tour concludes in Cairns on October 15.
The Bundaberg session will be held at 7am at the Western Suburbs Leagues Club while the Childers workshop will take place at Canegrowers Childers at noon.
