France vows to close refugee 'Jungle'
FRENCH President Francois Hollande has vowed the Calais shanty town will be dismantled.
Thousands of refugees live in the camp known as "the Jungle”.
"The situation is unacceptable and everyone here knows it,” Hollande said during a visit to the port city.
"We must dismantle the camp completely and definitively.”
Despite authorities' best attempts to beef up security, migrants in Calais routinely try to climb onto trucks to get to Britain via the English Channel tunnel. Britain has committed about $145 million for security measures to stop the flow.
