Four people killed in mall shooting in U.S

UPDATE 5.30pm: POLICE in the state of Washington in the U.S have again revised the death toll in a shooting at a mall. 

They say four women in total were killed in the shooting at Cascade Mall and a fifth victim is in hospital with serious injuries. 

The shooter himself remains at large, with authorities shutting down the shopping centre and searching the entire building. 

UPDATE 3.40PM: Police have revised the death toll of a shooting in the city of Burlington from four to three. Another person is critically injured and receiving treatment. 

The gunman, who is believed to have been acting alone, remains at large. 

EARLIER: FOUR people have been killed in a shooting at a mall in the United States.

Police in the state of Washington say one man opened fire at Cascade Mall in the city of Burlington, killing four people and possibly injuring others.

The man believed to be the shooter was seen walking through the area near the mall.

Washington State Patrol public information officer Sgt. Mark Francis said on social media that police believed he was the only shooter.

The man was armed with a rifle and was seen walking towards a major road after fleeing the mall.
