Four face court over alleged Lockyer Valley shoot-out

FOUR people charged in relation to a shooting incident have had their matters mentioned for a second time before the Toowoomba Magistrates Court.

Lockyer Valley residents Andrew James Balke, 36, Wade Clinton Klowss, 37, Troy Anthony Johns, 35, and Stephan Noel Puig, 45, have each been charged with threatening violence, authority required to possess explosives (ammunition), unlawful possession of weapons, going armed to cause fear and common assault.

The charges arise from an incident on July 25 in which police claim shots were fired during a dispute over jewellery at a property near Hatton Vale.

None of the accused has been required as yet to enter any pleas to the charges and only Puig attended court for the brief mention of the matters.

Defence solicitors Claire Graham, for Balke, and Sarah Gordon, for the other three defendants, asked for an adjournment so they could go through the police brief of evidence with their respective clients.

Magistrate Damian Carroll therefore remanded all four and adjourned the case for hearing mention back in the same court on October 19.
