A food paradise at this year's Bundy Flavours Festival

CELEBRITY chefs Alastair McLeod and Matt Golinski will return to the Bundaberg region for the annual Bundy Flavours Festival to be held at Alexandra Park on September 13.

The Bundy Flavours Festival is an opportunity to showcase the region's locally grown produce and celebrate Bundaberg's 'food bowl' status.

Bundaberg Regional Council community services spokeswoman Judy Peters said the event was designed to increase public awareness of the achievements of local growers and producers.

"This event is about promoting the vast array of fruit and vegetables grown within our region and distributed throughout the country," she said.

"It's also about promoting a 'shop local' attitude and reinforcing the importance of supporting our growers and producers."

Cr Peters was proud to confirm that Great South East presenter Alastair McLeod and well-known Sunshine Coast-based chef Matt Golinski would again be participating in the event.

"It's very exciting to have these two highly respected chefs coming to the region again to demonstrate their culinary skills with local produce," she said.

"This is definitely an event not to be missed by local foodies.

"Featuring three packed stages of live cooking demonstrations, it's a fabulous opportunity to witness celebrity and local chefs in action, taste local produce and mix with our region's growers and producers.

"The gardeners among us will also find plenty to interest them, with presentations and demonstrations from gardening clubs and nurseries."
