Flood report available free online

RESIDENTS can now access Council's Flood Planning Control Report quickly and easily online for free.

Council's Planning and Development portfolio spokesperson Cr Ross Sommerfeld said the report would replace council's Flood Search Certificate which was previously only available over the counter from council's development assessment team, which incurred an administration fee.

"Previously, if you required a flood certificate, residents would be charged $55 which was a basic administration fee that only covered a portion of the cost of actually generating the report," Cr Sommerfeld said.

"Now you can locate the property in question on council's interactive mapping tool on our website, select the flood report function, and it's as easy as clicking on the property, entering your email address and sitting back to wait for the report to be generated and delivered to your inbox.

"It's a win-win as it represents a cost-saving for council and it means residents can quickly access the information from their own home at no charge."

He said residents accessing this information would likely be curious about the data on their own property or interested in buying a property.

"We offer the Flood Planning Control Property Report to assist people who require details in writing about flood levels on their land.

"The report provides information about the defined flood level for a range of flood events where council holds flood data," Cr Sommerfeld said.

"The flood levels shown in the report allows residents to ascertain the planning and building requirements that relate to the property being searched."
