Outrage over 5 years jail for raping stepdaughter, 7

PUBLIC outrage has been sparked by a man getting just five years jail for raping his seven-year-old stepdaughter.

The girl's grandmother told Warwick District Court that her grand-daughter told her how the man she called Daddy raped her on her bedroom floor while her mother was out with friends.

She said her abuser said, "Don't tell mummy", when he had finished raping her and it had happened more than once.

The man's sentence of five years jail, with 43 days of pre-sentence custody taken into account, sparked outrage on The Chronicle's Facebook page.

"Five years, are you serious?" Kylie Lee asked.

"Shame on the Australian court system.

"And this is what is wrong with society now days.

"You can't call five years jail justice."

Sam Cannon said: "He's ruined a baby girl's life. Five years? He should be dead".

Donna Sorrensen said: "She's been given a life sentence - so should he have one too".

Tracey Thomas said: "What a disgrace our courts are a joke! This precious little girl has a life sentence .

"This judge is part of the problem how can we change this barbaric decision.

"Shame on you."
