BURNT TO GROUND: A house has been destoryed in a fire in Childers this morning.

UPDATE 1PM

AT LEAST two fire crews remain on site of the Avocado Dr fire in Childers cleaning up debris.

This includes a Childers crew and Bundaberg auxiliary unit.

Tina Mammino told Isis Town and Country reporter Jodie Dixon that she was in shock and had lost all family photos, furniture.

Emergency crews remain concerned with the amount of smoke in the area particularly for people with asthma.

Police continue to investigate the cause of the fire.

UPDATE 10AM

BUNDABERG Regional Council officer Wayne Heidrich witnessed the fire firsthand.

Here is his account.

"I arrived on the scene around 7.20am on my way to work.

The property is the former family home of Tina Mammino and her late husband Alf.

Tina is a local legend in Childers and is the mother of Anthony Mammino and his wife Teena who created the famous Mammino's Macadamia ice cream.

The house fronts the Bruce Hwy and is bounded by Butchers Rd and is nestled among a grove of avocado trees.

All emergency services were in place when I arrived and the old weatherboard home was fully engulfed in flames.

Ergon linesmen were attending to disconnecting the power.

Tina Mammino now lives in Childers adjacent to the Mammino Icecream store in the main street.

No doubt Tina's friends from the Catholic Church, St Vincent de Paul; Lions Club; CWA; Red Cross and Pilotlight Productions (a local theatre group) will support Tina in this loss".
